Anthony and I had lived in the north Alabama area for the majority of our lives. We had talked about moving to Florida at one point, but that never became anything other than a thought.
We enjoyed living in Huntsville however, after 2020, we started to watch our city grow and grow. While growth is good and we enjoyed some of the new attractions/restaurants coming into Huntsville, we also saw how it was evolving from a small-town feel to a big-city feel. Our commute times to work and around town kept increasing and it felt like the culture was changing quite rapidly as well. We would often find ourselves stuck in gridlock rush hour traffic. Before you knew it, the week was gone all for the cycle to continue.
With school becoming fully remote for the majority of 2020/2021, due to the pandemic, and baseball coming to a standstill, Aiden had begun feeling restless as well. We also realized just how easily he could homeschool! Eventually, we started dreaming. Was there a way we could become a closer family and feel like we weren’t living life on autopilot? Like, actually live life not just survive it.
One day while we were hanging out at our favorite hideout spot on the Flint River, we started talking about traveling in a bus because we had seen a family convert a school bus into a camper. Then we considered converting a charter bus but ultimately decided on a 5th-wheel camper! One thing led to another and well, here we are just over 1 year into our full-time traveling lifestyle!
- Were there times we thought we were crazy? YES
- Were there times we were scared we were making a bad irreversible decision? YES
- Were there times our family & friends thought we were crazy? YES
But if we don’t try to follow our dreams, what’s the point?
